Terry Harlow is Bringing the Past to the Present With Paleolithic Pipes. Harlow’s career as an artist began in the 1970s after studying in Denmark and returning home with a passion for bookbinding. Today he’s on a mission to integrate the traditional nature of Shaman pipe making.
“Why stone pipe carving?
Stone requires more actual “touch”, than other media. Shaping, carving, finishing, the hands are closer to the stone. The feel of the finished pipe represents and encourages the personal nature. The finished piece contains some of the carvers’ heart.”
